Downloads soon to hit 1.000.000!

Right now, in this very moment, the download counter has hit 938.773 - my prediction is that within a week the theme viewer will hit its 1.000.000th theme download. And have in mind that this is only since the relaunch, June 17th, 2006.

In august we hit the 600.000 mark, which was an approx of 8500 daily theme downloads. The interest must have grown, because now, the approx of daily downloads since June 17th is 9000.

The theme database have also grown steadily and the site now offers 808 themes, with new themes added every day.

  1. is there a way to know which are the new templates being uploaded every day.. perhaps a “whats new” section would be nice.. so that we dont have to go through all 55 pages again..

  2. You already have the possibility to browse by date, and by default all themes are sorted by date, newest first.

  6. Why is the “Test run” feature does not work (I always get the same classic WP web site)?

    I think it’s absolutely essential to get back that feature as running a theme to see how it behaves or just looking at it is quite different.

    And having the burden to install a theme just to see, in 2 seconds flat, that I don’t like how it increases fonts on text resize (for instance) is really time consuming!

  9. I’m trying to add theme to my website using ftp I went to wordpress folder when trying to create a folder inside themes I get access denied. why?

    What should I Do?

    You don’t have to create a folder within the WP files, there should be a folder by the name “themes” under /wp-content/themes/ where you simply upload the extracted/unzipped theme folder/files via http://FTP.

    Also, check if your WP folders are write protected!

    Pardon this off-topic query: I’m wondering why I still don’t have authorization to upload a theme. I’ve done everything right: created a username, emailed admin twice. And no response. I’m not sure what else to do except post here. Are uploads disabled? I would appreciate a reply.

  18. Tried to download your most downloaded theme ‘vistered’ a couple of times. Each time I tried to extract it comes up empty. If its no longer available pls let us know, cheers. And congrats on the almost mil mark, you guys deserve it and much more.

  7. Can anyone here give some indication of how long authorisation usually takes? I understand completely that there’s only one guy running this thing, that he needs to check we’re kosher and that it’s not going to happen overnight, but it would be really helpful to know whether, in your experience, we’re talking days, weeks or months.

  12. Since the site admin can’t be bothered to comment: if anyone else has applied to upload or update themes, I managed to find out that we can expect to wait at least three weeks from the date of submission. I hope that helps :)
