My Search Box does not work. Do I have to do something (other than install it) to get it to work?

Generally it’s best to put the favicon in the root of the website. So instead of it being in the theme directory move it to the root directory and change the href attribute to the new location.

FAVICON

Sorry to bother all y’all; but I have spent all evening educating myself about inserting a custom Favicon. I have successfully created one, and updated it to work both in the URL and in the Favorites (and in the browser tabs).

However, I have cannot make the favicon SHOW-UP for the Subpages, and also for the two regular Pages after the Subpages.

Anyone run across this? (And can help?)

#1. I want (I think) to delete the hard-coded “Home” from the Pages menu across the top of the page.

Because:

a.) If I leave it in and edit the hard-coded Home page, nothing shows up.

b.) I believe I know how to make a page become the new Home page.

OR . . .

#2. Can someone help me figure out how to make my edits to the hard-coded Home page SHOW UP when visitors land on my URL. http://www.levelsofmeaning.com

PS I understand that if I go route #1 above (deleting the hard-coded Home page, that I have to delete the coding from header.php.

If so, exactly *what* do I delete?

Go into the theme’s style.css and add the following line to #wp-header

`background-image: url(yourfilepath/yourfilename.jpg);`

I think you’ll want to make your image a little narrower than the site width.

I really like this theme, however, if I wanted to replace the header with a header image how would I go about doing that? I set the site width to 995px and my header image is 995px x 100px. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Right, finally got PHP etc working on VIsta, so I’ve been able to do some testing.

With regards to the page order - I’ve been able to create the following structure without any problems:

1 About
2 — Resume
3 — Interests
4 Coding
5 — ASP.net
6 — ColdFusion
7 — PHP

The numbers represent the Page Order value specified for each page.

If I only wanted to include the parent pages in the menu I would change the ‘wp_list_pages’ functions parameters (in ‘header.php) to:

wp_list_pages(’include=2,5&sort_column=menu_order&title_li=’);

where 2 and 5 are the page id numbers.

It does handle the pages in the header. I use the plugin to order my pages from left to right in the header and order the subpages on the pulldown. The plugin does not hide pages AFAIK. You have to pass the pages you want to hide in the wp_list_pages parameters manually.

Thanks for the recommendation. I saw it but wasn’t sure it overty handled the menu across the top. [Does it?]

I figured out how to order of the pages on the Pages menu on the right (and how to make some pages NOT show up).

And I do not have a problem with the Sub-pages across the top. [Just the page _order_ -- and which pages should show up.]

So, if I understand you and it correctly, the plug-in should handle a.) which Pages ae listed across the top, and b.) what order they appear.

Are you sure you copied all the files into the theme directory? It sounds like it might be missing ’style.php’.

Great theme! I’d like to use it but my site has hierarchical page sets and I’m having trouble with the pulldown menus.

As a test, I created a set of pages using WordPress 2.2 structured: (root,(a,(a1,a2),b,(b1,b2))). “root” appears in the menu bar but the pulldown only shows a, a1, b1, b2. I’ve triple-checked the Page Parent properties and they’re right. If I use the WordPress default theme a proper hierarchical list of the pages show up on the right. Any ideas?

Hi Neil,

I am trying to understand something for 2 weeks now : the 1.5 style.css is not take by my wordpress configuration (2.2) I get a no CSS page, the web2.0 options is effectless. But when i put instead your 1.2.5 style.css, I get back my web 2.0 theme !!

Where should i look to verify and correct my configuration ?

Dropdown menu is good to have, but theme looks too white due to lack of graphics, however theme looks good enough despite of less graphics.

That would be down to the height of the image. I will look into clearing the content with css - that might help.

I’m busy trying to finish off the next instalment of Web2.0* - it will help those who aren’t too comfortable with changing the css itself.
