  2. Perhaps my 2nd favorite (or, at least, #1a) of the plaintxt.org stable of themes (simplr is the other #1a). Veryplaintxt is just such a simple, yet breathtakingly solid & effective design. It’s that good.

  3. I like the newspaper-like format, but the centered navigation column really gets to me. Yes, its effectively simple, but I find that it can be a bit more polished.

  4. Viitoria: You can change the alignment of all the text and the sidebar (including its position to the left or right of the content) in the theme options menu. Plus all the typography can be changed with a few simple clicks.

  5. Looks okay. I don’t really like the center-orientation of the sidebar though–or how the Child Pages display.
    Neither do I like multi-column layouts when they’re as simple as this.

  4. I am a fan of all Scott Walick’s themes. Text and illustration are the meat and potatoes of blogging, and Scott’s themes serve those up well. His theme templates are easy to customize because his code is brief and easy to read. If you have no experience modifying themes, or no desire to get into customizing one, veryplaintxt gives you a menu of font and layout options, and some surprising goodies like a sidebar textbox. All that comes up right in the WordPress Presentation panel.

    And if you do want to delve into theme design and creation, Scott’s designs are a good learning avenue. He follows WordPress’s best-practices advice and makes durable designs with almost no cross-browser snags.

  11. Scott you have done a fine job with this theme. Thank you so much. I love how simple it is. The options menu that you have put into the theme are so cool. I wish other designers did that.

    (NOTE: You can change almost every aspect that this theme has through a nifty menu Scott has designed.)

    I think this is the best Simple theme for Wordpress!!! Checkout my site for a working version of this theme.

    My only problem (which I’ve noticed in support boards from others as well) was an error in the links list:

    Instead of
    It should be

    There’s an extra little ‘-’ that prevents the links from displaying.

  5. Any idea if Google Payments will launch as a beta product? I don’t see it taking off if it launches as a beta — who on earth would trust a beta payment system? You can’t tell the customer “oops, we lost that transaction. please wait, but hey it’s free and it’s beta.” Frankly, Google is starting to feel tired. They need to do a better job at polishing products before they release them. It feel like they’re flinging noodles against the wall and hoping one sticks tfkc.cn.
