FAQ

1. How do I register?

Open registration is temporarily closed. Email a screenshot or demo of your theme at wpmoderator[at]yahoo[dot]com, along with your preferred user id, and you will get permission to upload new themes once your theme is approved. This could take upto 3 business days due to high volume of incoming emails.

Note: You are authorized to upload themes DESIGNED by you ONLY.

Do not upload themes for:
* Other designers
* Third-party Distributors of your Themes
* Buyers of your Themes

Do not push in un-approved users’ themes without permission. This is to prevent spam and aliases.
Once we re-open the registration for all, this is how you could register:

  • Go “register” yourself.
  • Add a username and your email id, and you will be sent a password. You can login using the password sent to you. Update your password by going to “Profile” on the top menu.
  • Type in your new password twice and it will get updated.

2. How do I upload a theme?

Once you are a registered user, i.e you have created your User Id, login to the site and click on “Upload Theme” from the top menu.

Before you upload your theme, please check that everything is as it should be. Add a Zip file to upload, and select the appropriate tags in all the drop down boxes.

The description in your CSS file will show up automatically as the description for your theme. Please ensure that this description should begin with the following:

/*
Theme Name:
Theme URI:
Description:
Author:
Author URI:
*/

Fill in the right details and you will not have trouble uploading your themes.

Keep in mind the following before you upload a theme:

  • Do not upload the same theme twice.
  • If there is a mistake, you can update your theme by going to the “Update Page”. Do not use the “Upload theme” feature, instead use the “Update theme” feature.
  • If your theme has the same name as that of an existing theme, change the name of your theme before you upload it, else the system will reject your theme.
  • Do not duplicate an existing theme. Use the “Search Button” to check if the theme you have ported to WordPress has been ported before. Avoid duplicating an existing theme, don’t just change the name and release it. Duplicate themes will be removed.
  • You cannot upload someone else’s theme in your own name by simply making a few cosmetic changes like changing the header image or by simply changing a few colors, without permission from the original designer to do the same.
  • You are not allowed to duplicate your own theme over and over again by simply changing the header image. If you would like to provide multiple headers, give a link to your own site from where the header images could be downloaded.
  • If you want to offer multiple color choices for your theme, use a WP options menu or provide other options on your own website.
  • You must provide attribution links to the original designer as per the license you are using to distribute/re-distribute the theme. You are expected to provide “visible footer links”, as meta-links are likely to be removed by the user, and a link in the CSS description is not visible. If you want, you can add an extra meta-link or CSS link. If you are found infringing copyrights, your theme will be removed without prior notice.
  • You must specify the License/Terms and conditions under which the theme could be used, by clearly mentioning it in your CSS description or by adding a separate License Document to your Zip File.
  • Note: Inspite of repeat warning, most new users are still found duplicating their own themes. If you continue to duplicate your themes, the duplicates will be removed and your original theme will be moved to a later date as a penalty for pushing other themes behind with your duplicates.
  • Theme designers, sponsors or distributors of ripoffs are to blame equally and action will be taken against all those who promote ripoffs directly or indirectly.

3. How do I update my theme?

Login to the site and use the “Update Theme” feature on the top menu. Re-upload the Zip File of the newer versions or the corrected Zip file, make the necessary changes by selecting the appropriate tags from the drop down menus and your theme will get updated. If the thumbnail image is not visible or not showing up correctly, update the theme, it might work.

4. Am I allowed to submit more than one theme?

Yes, you can upload as many new themes as you want, and as often as you like.

5. Can I upload two themes, one which is widget-ready and one without widgets?

There is no need to make 2 versions of a theme, to offer widgets. If users do not want to use widgets, they can simply deactivate the widget plugin.

6. Where do I make complaints regarding spam, theme rip-offs, duplicate uploads, bitching, issues with other designers?

Email at wpmoderator[at]yahoo[dot]com. If your complaint is genuine, action will be taken to do the needful.

7. How do I avoid personal attacks made at me?

Comments written for the sole purpose of abuse, to make indecent personal attacks, or to mislead/discourage users from using a popular theme will be removed.

8. Why are the thumbnails not visible sometimes?

We request your patience and co-operation, we are working on this issue and it is being looked into.

9. How do I make a donation to Theme Viewer?
